Dassam falls is one of the most enchanting falls about 40 km from Ranchi and is located along Kanchi river, a tributary of Subarnarekha, Its name Dassam is derived from the word 'Da-song' which means the act of pouring water in Mundari language; the people of the area still call it Da-song. Another name of Dassam Falls is Dasham Bagh. The water falls has clean and clear water that falls from a height of 44m (144 ft.) and is located at one of the edge of Ranchi Plateau. The Dassam Falls is an example of a nick point caused by rejuvenation. Knick point, also called a nick point or simply nick, represents breaks in slopes in the longitudinal profile of a river caused by rejuvenation. The break in channel gradient allows water to fall vertically giving rise to a waterfall.
